The inaugural event of Light Up Downtown had an excellent turnout today as the Convention Center was transformed into a “Winter Wonderland.” The inside walkway was lined with decorated Christmas trees and wreaths decorated by local artists, and were available for bid during both a silent and live auction. Many local small businesses and vendors were selling their homemade crafts, jewelery, and toys for the holidays. Muncie Voice enjoyed Ashley Gray performing live on stage.

Local vendors said the Winter festival was a great beginning to the proposed annual event, and all were looking forward to next year.

If you haven’t been downtown to see the sculptures by local artist, Brian Blair, please take an opportunity to navigate away from McGalliard Road, and visit a downtown merchant for your holiday shopping needs. While downtown, get your picture taken with a nutcracker, or one of Santa’s elves.

Holiday celebrations continue next weekend with Minnetrista’s Enchanted Luminaria Walk, and Polar Express at Cardinal Greenway, on Friday (12/2) and Saturday (12/3).

A trolley will shuttle visitors between Minnetrista and Cardinal Greenway.
