Midwest Farmer & Artisan Network Comes to Muncie

Green BEAN Delivery to donate one ton of organic produce to Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana in celebration of serving new market

MUNCIE, Ind. (August 14, 2012) – Green BEAN Delivery, an online home delivery service that provides organic produce and natural groceries to its members, announces today that it is expanding services to greater Muncie, Ind. The company is the Midwest’s most extensive network of farmers and artisans with organic and sustainable practices.

Green BEAN Delivery was founded in 2007 by husband and wife team Matt Ewer and Elizabeth Blessing who designed their company to make organic produce and natural groceries convenient, affordable and accessible to Midwest communities. Focused on home delivery, the company distributes organic, local and sustainably grown foods directly to consumers’ doorsteps.

Dedicated to fighting hunger in the communities it serves, Green BEAN Delivery will be donating one ton of fresh produce to Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana in Muncie on August 22. Deliveries to local homes will begin on the week of August 27. Customers can create accounts and place their orders online today by visiting the Membership Details page at .

“Our success in Indianapolis and Fort Wayne made us aware that Hoosiers outside of these cities want access to quality and affordable produce, and we’re really excited to bring our services to the residents of Muncie,” said Matt Ewer, president and co-founder of Green BEAN Delivery. “We source as close to home as possible, meaning that local residents’ food dollars are staying in the local and regional economy when they shop with Green BEAN Delivery.”

Since inception, Green BEAN Delivery has invested more than $5 million into local food economies throughout the Midwest, and is now serving more than 12,000 customers. The company has donated more than 180,000 pounds, or 90 tons, of fresh produce donations to hunger relief agencies in Indiana, Ohio and Kentucky.

“We rely on the generosity of others to make a difference in the lives of those in need of food assistance in East Central Indiana, and we are incredibly appreciative of the plentiful donation from Green BEAN Delivery,” said Joe Fox, director of operations for Second Harvest Food Bank of East Central Indiana. “This partnership will help ensure that everyone in our community has access to the food they need to live a healthy and successful life.”

Customers ordering online can select a produce bin of their choice and delivery frequency, such as weekly or biweekly. Each produce bin is 100 percent customizable, and customers can add local dairy, meats, bread and other grocery products. All products are all-natural and free of additives and preservatives; members can choose from more than 400 products available each week.

Of course The Downtown Farm Stand and our Farm Stand Delivery is already serving this market and purchases from local organic farms right here in East Central Indiana. The small farms in ECI don’t need a big company coming in and taking their market share by selling out of area produce. Sara and I have worked hard to build a market here, it’s a shame that a big company that is all over the Midwest feels the need to try to squeeze out the Muncie foks. http://www.downtownfarmstand.com

After looking at their website, green beans delivery seems like a great, “hard working” company? actually a lot of the stuff on their website looks/reads just like the stuff on your website? Are you a former employee or something? you have unfortunately made yourself and your business look bad by trying to smear your new competition, whether intentional or not. FYI
