Indiana: A Southern Red State
We updated our August article to include a map of individual political contributions which illustrates how the south and Midwest changes from 1992 to 2012 – very pertinent to this discussion.
MUNCIE, Indiana – Our founders insisted a vigilant populace must be kept informed because there were powers who would threaten our freedoms. They didn’t want us to be entertained. Thomas Jefferson specifically said, “Educate and inform the whole mass of the people…They are the only sure reliance for the preservation of our liberty.”
Our history books are filled with stories about dictators who led countries into war and performed unspeakable atrocities against their fellow-man. While the leaders were considered monsters, a large segment of the population followed these leaders. Why?
The answer is through effective forms of manipulation.
You don’t have to read the entire book written by Adolph Hitler, just a few pages of Mein Kampf will enlighten you about how important the use of propaganda was in manipulating the German people to do unspeakable things to their fellow Germans.
Read this excerpt very carefully:
The receptivity of the great masses is very limited, their intelligence is small, but their power of forgetting is enormous. In consequence of these facts, all effective propaganda must be limited to a very few points and must harp on these in slogans until the last member of the public understands what you want him to understand by your slogan. As soon as you sacrifice this slogan and try to be many-sided, the effect will piddle away, for the crowd can neither digest nor retain the material offered. In this way the result is weakened and in the end entirely cancelled out.
This epitomizes the conservative movement throughout the red states. The perceived enemy is the “liberal agenda” with the “Prince of Fools” leading the charge and supported by the liberal media. The only place for “safe news coverage” is Fox News. Fox News is no different from Hitlers Ministry of Public Enlightenment and Propaganda. More from Mein Kampf:
The receptive powers of the masses are very restricted, and their understanding is feeble. On the other hand, they quickly forget. Such being the case, all effective propaganda must be confined to a few bare essentials and those must be expressed as far as possible in stereotyped formulas. These slogans should be persistently repeated until the very last individual has come to grasp the idea that has been put forward.
While they’d like for you to think they are mad about his liberal agenda, the facts are, he’s been very pro-business. Not one banker went to jail for their hand in the financial industry collapse nor for their next price rigging and continued dealings with drug cartels. He’s been easy on business since he took office. Even his health care reform was modeled after republican models, not the liberal model of universal health coverage.
If his policies aren’t agitating the conservative movement, then what is?
Well, you’d have to understand the history of the red states in the south to fully grasp the power it has over people. You see, the white democrats were too soft on the blacks which infuriated the white supremacists. So the white supremacist voting block shifted to republicans who found a new breed of leadership. One that hated blacks and all other minorities, including women. Or, at least, they define a specific role that women should play in this world.
How many slips from Tea Party candidates were captured on video during last years republican presidential run? Rick Santorum had plenty himself. Newt Gingrich? Rick Perry? Mitt Romney who tried to appeal to Tea Party groups, but came across shallow and disingenuous because he’s a moderate. What were they trying to capture from those Tea Party rallies?
Remember Rick Perry talking about his pride and joy – the death penalty. He joked about the people he’d put to death and the crowd cheered. What was he appealing to in them?
Hate, fear, ignorance, prejudice and racism.
All of these fear based character defects rolled into one massive position of hate. Where do they get the fuel to keep this fire of hate burning? Conservative talk radio, Sean Hannity, Michael Savage, Glenn Beck and Rush Limbaugh. These guys have done nothing but assault this president and ignite the flames of bigotry and hate. Fox News is a Roger Ailles production who is a master of manipulating populace’s to support conservative movements.
Take a look at the following map which highlights campaign contributions to political parties. When you move the slider from 1992 to 2012, look at what happens throughout the South and Midwest after Obama was elected in 2008 – it goes completely red:
Just to be clear, they don’t deal in facts. As illustrated above, Hitler understood and that’s why he put Josef Goebbels in charge of the propaganda machine. Goebbels’ motto was, “If you tell a lie often enough, people will believe it to be true.”
Still don’t believe it? A poll was recently conducted in Louisiana of republican voters – one of those southern states who elected a republican governor. They were asked whose failed policies were behind the post-Katrina failure in 2005. The responses were “29 percent of a pool of Republican primary voters in Louisiana blamed Obama, who took office in 2009, and 28 percent blamed Bush, whose term lasted through 2008.”
We could cite more examples, but why bother. As we see it, Indiana has fallen in line with the southern red states. There is no rationale for Governor Mike Pence to refuse expanding Medicaid to make sure 400,000 Hoosiers received health care insurance given by the Affordable Care Act. Insurance they already pay for through their taxes. His selfish decision not only hurts individual Hoosiers, it will cost hospitals millions of dollars because Pence told them to get treatment from emergency rooms which is the most expensive treatment you can get, so many will never pay the hospital. If they had coverage, the federal government would reimburse the hospitals.
So, why would Pence make such an irrational decision?
He wants to appeal to the tea party conservative movement who are fueled by hate, ignorance, prejudice and racism. He is counting on getting their votes for a presidency he has his sights on one day after he hides in Indiana for four years. Indiana should show him the door, but we don’t see the outrage coming from Hoosiers thus far. Only a small minority of Hoosiers see what’s going on and disapprove.
The remaining citizens of Indiana must approve of this race based campaign against a black president of the United States. Either that or they fall into the class of being manipulated by the conservative media. If that’s the case, there must be some lingering hate or bigotry below the surface which the conservative movement has tapped into. Shake it loose Hoosiers!
As for now, we’re lumping you into the red states of the south.
We control the News Media in this country., therefore we control the reality, and if the American people don’t like it, we can create a new one in 30 minutes. ~ Karl Rove, Leader of Conservative Movement
