Muncie Central Early College a Reality

Muncie, IN – During a press conference this afternoon, Tim Heller, Superintendent of Muncie Community Schools and Dr. Andrew Bowne, Regional Chancellor, East Central & Richmond at Ivy Tech Community College announced the establishment of the Muncie Central Early College.

The Early College programs will begin in the fall of the upcoming 2014-2015 school year allowing Muncie Central students the opportunity to earn an associate degree in Liberal Arts while still in high school at no additional cost.

That’s right, Muncie Central students will be able to save their parents around $8,000 and graduate from high school with a diploma from Muncie Central and an Associate in Arts degree from Ivy Tech Community which is transferable to every public university within the state of Indiana, as well as most private universities and colleges within our state.

Tim Heller stated, “Muncie Central already has an outstanding program of scholarship with diverse programs for student to pursue an education of their choosing, so this just enhances what we already offer”.

Muncie Central now becomes an even stronger academic choice for students in Delaware County while providing parents an opportunity to save money on providing a higher education for their children. Dr. Bowne said, “This program can be done with the existing teachers in place and will be of no extra cost to students or parents.”

This is a win-win-win for the community and families in East Central Indiana.
